Sometimes you set out to make a bunch of the same thing– only to learn your approach was such that you can firmly stand behind only one result. Thus, the pictured pretty nails below are no more– but for one gallant pair for sale at Alloy Gallery in Newport Rhode Island. If you stop in to their show Earcandy, up through the end of the month, please say ‘hello’ to Miss Kendall Reiss. Mariah Tuttle shared co-curatorialship.
To me this etching is like none other. Disclosure: Bad Bob is my godfather. Though more telling; is that while I’m not an especially effusive person, I can easily say I love this work on paper. The only reason this print is not framed is because my southern facing light would decimate it in about a week’s time. For now it can enjoy digital display here, until I move to that cave in the south of France.

Found this brass vessel at the Williamsburg Flea Market today. I’m really taken by it and have no idea what it was made for or what I’ll do with it. Why are we enamored with containers for which we have no immediate utility? The proportions here are perfect and the heft is especially nice. Its’ hand feel is gratifying: defining the origin of the word handsome. It’s got some crusty grime on it that I half cleaned off. Clay? Old food? Candle wax? Whatever.
